Health Supplement Product Registration

Health/Food supplements are product intended for ingestion that contains a dietary ingredient intended to add further nutritional value to supplement the diet such as vitamin, mineral, amino acid, fats, or herbs found in the form of pharmaceutical preparations such as tablets, capsules powders, liquids or any other form of food with a label indicating that the product is a health supplement and not a traditional food. So, Product registration Dubai Municipality is required for each health supplement before import or to be sold in the Dubai, UAE.

Medical Claims: any claims related to prevention, treatment or curing any type of disease must not be presented or referred to on the label brochures. Leaflet or advertisement or any other way.

Documents Required

  1. Clear Picture of Product.
  2. Clear Artwork of Product.
  3. Free Sale Certificate.
  4. Ingredients Report.  (list of a product’s ingredients) Should be signed and stamped by the Manufacturer on letterhead.
  5. Certificate of Analysis.
  6. Laboratory Certificate
  7. GMP Certificate.
  8. If any other supporting documents (e.g. Halal Certificate, ISO Certificate, Source of Certificate, Material safety data, Radiation Certificate, EN71 Certificate, etc.)
NOTE: HALAL certificate, to specify animal ingredients needs to be issued from recognized Islamic society in the country of origin and it is mandatory if Halal logo is present on the label.

Service completion duration: 12 working days.

Health Supplement Product

Cosmetic Product Registration

A cosmetic product shall mean any substance or preparation intended to be placed in contact with the various external parts of the human body (epidermis, hair system, nails, lips and external genital organs) or with the teeth and the mucous membranes of the oral cavity with a view exclusively or mainly to cleaning them, perfuming them, changing their appearance and/or correcting body odors and/or protecting them or keeping them in good condition.

Documents Required

  1. Clear Picture of Product.
  2. Clear Artwork of Product.
  3. Free Sale Certificate.
  4. Ingredients Report.  (list of a product’s ingredients) Should be signed and stamped by the Manufacturer on letterhead.
  5. Certificate of Analysis.
  6. Laboratory Certificate
  7. GMP Certificate.
  8. If any other supporting documents (e.g. Halal Certificate, ISO Certificate, Source of Certificate, Material safety data, Radiation Certificate, EN71 Certificate, etc.)

Service completion duration: 22 working days.

Service Fee:

Application:  AED 10

Certificate Fee: AED 220

Validity:  Five Years after that renewal required.

Food Item Registration

The Dubai Municipality checks the information on the product label whether it is as per the DM guideline. DM also checks on the ingredients of a food item and may ask for lab testing to verify the quality and safety of consumers which is usually done at the time of inspection on the port.

Label Requirements: It is mandatory to have information on a product label of food packaging in Arabic. However, there is an option to have information on both English and Arabic, but the content should be exactly the same in all the languages.

  4. If any other supporting documents (e.g. Halal Certificate, GMP,  ISO Certificate, Source of Certificate, Material safety data, Radiation Certificate, EN71 Certificate, etc.)

Food Label Approval or Assessment: AED 10 (per label)

Food Item Registration without Assessment (FITR): Free

Detergent And Disinfectant Product Registration

In essential terms, a detergent is used to eliminate the grease or dirt from garments, floors, latrines, showers, sinks, etc. A disinfectant is a chemical that can eliminate germs or organisms in specific conditions. A disinfectant is not used for eliminating dirt. Detergents are not capable of killing the germs and if the cleanser water isn’t changed regularly (after the cleaning has been done) the germs in the dirt will move all around. The rare factor that unifies the two products is the reason for cleaning.

Pet animal food products Registration

Pet and Animal Products Registration is a mandatory process under Dubai Municipality (DM). Dubai municipality offers Pet and Animal product registration. Dubai municipality is required to check the products entering into Dubai for the availability of any substance that may be harmful, or that might not be safe for use. The main purpose of Product Registration is consumer safety. Dubai municipality is regulatory to hold adequate information to evaluate the safety of products.

Documents Required

  1. Product Label
  2. Product Image
  3. Free sale certificate
  4. Certificate from the manufacturer that the product is free from pork derivatives, toxins (aflatoxin – Dioxin), any other harmful substances
  5. If the veterinary product contains a source of animal protein, a certificate issued by the competent authority in the country of origin
  6. If the  veterinary product contains (substances containing or produced by genetically modified organisms); must be mentioned in the label.
